To do and see

Thanks to its central location, Argilliers is an ideal starting point and the region offers many activities and experiences. Whether you enjoy nature, culture, sports or tranquillity, everything is within easy reach.

From Mas-Marah, you can walk to the nature reserve behind the property, but there are also many other walks you can take from the Mas.

If you prefer cycling or mountain biking, no problem, there are also many possibilities here and several marked cycle paths nearby. The greenway, a very wide cycle path, also passes nearby. Not bringing your own bike? No problem: there are many rental options in the area, both for regular bikes and electric bikes.

Are you a fan of swimming or kayaking? The neighbouring village of Collias (Gorges du Gardon) is definitely worth a visit! But there are also several other places in the region where you can enjoy these activities.

In Collias, there are also climbing opportunities for enthusiasts.

If you prefer to stroll around the many local markets, there is no shortage of them, whether traditional markets, markets selling mainly local produce, or flea markets/antiques; there is something for everyone. Incidentally, the Saturday market in Uzès is very popular!

Culinary delights: tasting local produce, sampling wines at a vineyard, enjoying a snack on the go or a sumptuous dinner – there’s no shortage of options! In addition, many activities are regularly organised, for example at the region’s vineyards. Some nice places to visit nearby: Les Roses Blanches, a gourmet restaurant with a very pleasant terrace (only 100 metres from the cottage – if you like to accompany your dinner with a good wine, no problem, you don’t have to take the car back to the cottage! There is also Le Tracteur à Argilliers, which you can reach by bike, or the Tardieu Ferrand vineyard in the village, where a young couple produce excellent wines and also organise events on their estate during the season.

Culture: Le Pont-du-Gard (10 minutes by car) (a World Heritage Site) with its beautiful aqueduct, where you can also go paddling, is definitely worth a visit. During the summer months, they often organise evening events where you can enjoy the beautiful light and music. Avignon (25 mins by car) with its famous Palais des Papes; Nîmes (25 mins by car) with its Arena.

A day at the seaside? Camargues, Le Grau-du-Roi or perhaps Cassis with its beautiful harbour, Marseille with its Calanques (my favourite).

A trip to Anduze with its famous Bamboo Garden (a beautifully landscaped Japanese-inspired garden).

Heading east, you will find famous wine regions such as Gigondas, Vacqueras, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and beautiful villages such as Gordes, Vaison-la-Romaine, Séguret, as well as Mont Ventoux, which is a very pleasant day trip.

If you drive north, you will find the southern Ardèche with Les Vans, Barjac, Vallons-Pont-d’Arc and others.

But you don’t have to drive far, as there are many villages and excursions in the region that are definitely worth visiting, such as Uzès, Le-Roque-sur-Cèze (waterfall), Lussan (a beautifully maintained village with its castle and famous ceramics), Saint-Quentin-La-Potterie (handcrafted ceramics), Castillon-du-Gard, etc.

But of course, you can also simply enjoy the estate, rest, swim, relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the garden.
